The resorts location is central to the island on the Eastern shore facing the North African coast. For the beach lovers the sun rises from left to right across the main beach and sea. In doing so is not shielded by the volcanoes at the rear of the resort offering the best possible sunshine hours throughout the year.

Costa Teguise is a 20 minute drive from Arrecife airport. Boasting 3 beaches the main sandy strip beach Las Cucharas meaning “The Spoon” in Spanish is around 1km around the bay. The smaller beach area of Playa Bastian & Playa Del Jablillo is to the south and the mid size beach of Los Charcos to the north. The beach of Las Cucharas has a world class reef break just off shore, more for the proficient boarder but within the bay board hire with safety boat is a great way to start. The beach of Playa Bastian and Charcos offer great fishing, snorkelling and swimming. The sandy bit on all 3 beaches offer entertainment for the bucket and spade brigade.

Joining up these 3 distinct beaches are quite literally hundreds of the resort amenities, restaurants and bars & shopping including what the locals refer to as the “Friday Market” the town square of Plaza Pueblo Marinero. You could quite easily eat from a different countries cuisine every night. These same areas contain all the normal resort shopping including supermarkets, banks and car hire.
The main building works commenced in Costa Teguise in the early 1960’s from what was salt flats in the north of the resort that now sit under the Malia Salinas Hotel and what was the old Lanzarote Beach Club.

The Malia hotel actually contains in its basement complex the original desalination plant for the resorts drinking water. Since the late nineties and early noughties with the moratorium on building works, development has slowed considerably to the good of the resort in most opinions.

Costa Teguise has now grown over the years to one of the primary destination resorts of the Canary Islands. Distinct from the other 2 resorts on the island of Lanzarote, Puerto Del Carmen with its vibrant Bar-Hotel-Shop-Repeat format along its long beach front strip to the more sublime but spread out ex fishing village of Playa Blanca.
